Sunday Family Special with BBQ Lunch and Steam Engine Excursion to Jarvis Wye (August)
On Sundays in August enjoy a great Texas BBQ lunch & live music with your family and friends and then take a short ride on Steam Engine #300 to the Jarvis Wye. Lunch will be served from 12:30pm – 1:15pm at the Palestine Depot and there will be live musical entertainment to enjoy. After lunch you will board the train and take a roundtrip excursion to the Jarvis Wye. The roundtrip excursion will take approximately 1 ½ hours. On this special trip you will experience Steam Engine #300 as it uncouples from the train at our Jarvis location and watch the engine as it wyes to the opposite end of the train and then takes you back to Palestine.
What is a Wye? It is a portion of track that is constructed in the shape on an inverted “Y”. At the Texas State Railroad, we use this portion of the track for special short runs from our Palestine depot.

Tickets: $38 for adults and $21 for children
Climate Controlled upgrade: $4 for adults and $2.00 for children

1st Annual Texas State GWTA Rally

All Bikers Welcome! This rally is co-sponsored by the Goldwing Touring Association and the Texas State Railroad. The rally will be held at the Texas State Railroad Rusk Depot. Enjoy a great event with door prizes, 50/50 gift certificates, bike games, live band Friday & Saturday evening, good food, vendors and a fun run. During the rally plan to ride the historic train at the Texas State Railroad!
Rally Entry Fee: $15.00 per person (Early registrants receive free t-shirt. Limited to first 200 people). Call 1-888-987-2461 to register early. Registration for fun run ($15.00 per person) will take place on-site. Train tickets sold separately. On-site registration information: On-site registration for the rally will take place at the Texas State Railroad Campground headquarters beginning September 19th at 8am.
Bring your tent or RV and stay at the Texas State Railroad! Campsites are available for $10.00/bike with two bikes per site. RV sites are also available for $25.00/night with full hook-ups. No tent or RV? Host hotel for the event is the Weston Inn in Rusk. Special rates will be given thru August 15th. Call the motel at (903) 683-8383 and mention the Bikers & Boxcars Rally for a discount.
